Walmart+ Benefits Summary

Here’s a quick overview of the benefits of Walmart+ membership:

  • Free Unlimited Same-Day Delivery on 160,000+ Items

  • Save up to 10¢/Gallon at 14,000 Fuel Locations

  • Free Paramount+ Essential

  • Walmart Rewards

  • Exclusive Deals & Early Product Access (Paid Members Only)

  • Scan & Go In-Store

Now let’s look at each benefit in more detail.

Walmart+ Benefit - Free Unlimited Delivery

Walmart+ members get free same-day delivery (location-dependent) from local Walmart stores and free next-day/two-day shipping from Walmart distribution centers.

Since the annual cost of Walmart+ works out at around $8/month, this benefit will start to outweigh the cost of the usual $7.95 delivery fee if you’re used to getting over 12 deliveries/year.

You can order deliveries from your local Walmart and get shipped items at the same time, they’ll just arrive separately. Feel free to filter items by ‘delivery’ or ‘shipping’ when shopping on Walmart.com.

Shopping from your local Walmart? Get free same-day delivery (usually $7.95-$9.95/order) on $35+ orders ($6.99 fee under $35). Order as often as you like, select a 1-hour window (first-come, first served), your driver’s location can be tracked in-app and no signature is required.

Getting items shipped? Get free next-day or two-day delivery with no $35 minimum spend.

Walmart+ Benefit - Up To 10¢/Gallon Off Fuel

Walmart+ members get up to 10¢ off per gallon from participating gas stations. Save at 14,000+ Exxon, Mobil, Walmart, Murphy USA/Express and Sam’s Club stations spread across 48 states.

Take advantage of the Walmart+ gas saving on as much fuel, of any type, as often as you like.

To get the discount, first sign in to Walmart+ on the Walmart app. You’ll need to pay at the pump where a debit/credit card is usually required. What you do next depends on the gas station:

  • Exxon & Mobil Station - With Location Services On > Walmart App > Ready To Fuel Popup > Pump Number > Grade > Fuel

  • Walmart Station - Walmart App > Walmart+ > Member Prices On Fuel > Get Started > Get Pumping > Scan QR > Grade > Fuel

  • Murphy USA/Express Station - Walmart App > Walmart+ > Member Prices > Get Started > ‘Walmart+’ on Pump > Enter 6 Digit ID > Grade > Fuel

  • Sam’s Fuel Club Center - Walmart App > Walmart+ > Walmart Pay > Scan QR > Grade > Fuel

Walmart+ Benefit - Free Paramount+

Walmart+ membership includes Paramount+ Essential for free (usually $5.99/month or $59.99/year). This is the base level, ad-supported tier where access to your local live CBS station isn’t included.

The Paramount+ benefit significantly increases the value of Walmart+ making it more similar to Amazon Prime with their Prime Video offering.

Paramount Plus offers critically acclimated originals, box office hits, CBS sports (NFL, UEFA, PGA) and CBS News (live and on-demand) with streaming options via iOS, Android, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation and more.

Walmart+ Benefit - Save With Walmart Rewards

Also exclusive to Walmart+ members, earn item-specific rewards on select groceries, household goods and more.

When shopping in-store (Walmart App) or online (Walmart.com), tap ‘Add Reward’ on eligible items for a monetary reward. Savings are added to your account, redeemable on future in-store or online purchases.

You can track Walmart Rewards, which don’t expire, via your account on Walmart.com or the Walmart App. To redeem rewards, hit ‘Use Walmart Rewards’ when using Walmart Pay in-store or ‘Use Walmart Rewards’ at the online checkout.

Walmart+ Benefit - Promo and Event Early Access

Exclusive to paying Walmart+ members only (not free trial members), get early access to special promotions and events.

For example, get early access to Black Friday deals as well as select PS5 and Xbox Series X Restock events.

Walmart+ Benefit - Scan & Go

Walmart+ members get access to Scan & Go, a streamlined in-store shopping and checkout option. Make sure you load your debit/credit card on to the Walmart App in advance then when you arrive in store:

Walmart App > Services > Mobile Scan & Go > Scan Items > Place in Cart > Self Checkout > Scan QR Code > Pay > e-Receipt

Items sold by the pound need to weighed at the self checkout and age verification is required for age-restricted items. Using coupons? You’ll need to use a standard checkout as they’re not currently accepted using Scan & Go.

Is Walmart+ Worth It?

The benefits of Walmart+ start to outweigh the cost pretty quickly, especially if you’re a regular Walmart shopper, car owner and/or Paramount+ fan.

Once you’ve made your 12th local Walmart delivery (usually $7.95 each), any additional deliveries in the same year save you money compared to the annual Walmart+ plan which offers the best value at $98/year (37% saving compared to the $12.95 monthly plan).

Add on Paramount+ valued at $59.99/year, accumulating fuel savings and Walmart Rewards and that return on investment improves dramatically. Although difficult to value, Scan & Go and Early Promo/Event Access can also improve your shopping experience.

I’d suggest doing your own calculation to figure out if makes sense for you but Walmart have certainly made it a competitive offering.
